Kilimanjaro Altitudes Sickness

Kilimanjaro altitude sickness or AMS (acute mountain sickness) is a very common sickness on high altitude.

Those are related to mountain climbing or trekking, the term is very familiar to them. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa, having the height approximately-5,895 m. So, mountain sickness is very common here.

Most of the climbers experience the early symptoms of Altitude sickness. Such as: headaches, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness, loss of appetite and possibly palpitations.

Those having any health issue or obesity they can consult their doctor. Otherwise, they will suffer badly on the high altitude of Kilimanjaro. So, there are certain information for the treatment & prevention of altitude sickness.

  • Avoid ascents of greater than 300 m per day and rest for the rest of the day.

  • Keep yourself hydrated, so you can walk for a long time.
  • Eat well, so you can get some energy for heading towards your summit. Keep your appetite in a better condition.
